Titanium Dioxide
For over 80 years, Kronos has been producing titanium dioxide pigment.
Kronos was there at the beginning, when the titanium dioxide industry was launched in 1916. That year the Titanium Pigment Corporation of Niagara Falls, New York and the Titan Co. AS, of Norway simultaneously began commercial production of this new white pigment. Then the principal white pigments used in paints were white lead, zinc white and lithopone. The National Lead Company, today, NL Industries acquired both the Titanium Pigment Corporation and Titan Co. AS.
In 1989, NL Industries, reorganized itself such that Kronos became a separate company. One reason for this change was globalization of Kronos products. Before 1989, Kronos sold its Kronos titanium dioxide grades branded as either Titanox or Kronos in different areas of the world. The grades were interchangeable and the company decided to adopt the Kronos brand name, exclusively. The company still maintains the rights to the Titanox brand name.
Today, titanium dioxide is the world’s primary pigment for providing whiteness, brightness and opacity. And KRONOS, Inc., is the world’s fourth largest supplier of titanium dioxide pigments. These pigments are used for imparting whiteness, brightness, and opacity to a wide range of products, including paints, plastics, paper, fibers, and ceramics.

Iron Oxide Red
Iron (III) oxide is the inorganic compound with the formula Fe2O3. It is of one of the three main oxides of iron, the other two being iron(II) oxide (FeO), which is rare, and iron (II,III ) oxide (Fe3O4), which also occurs naturally as the mineral magnetite.
As the mineral known as hematite, Fe2O3 is the main source of the iron for the steel industry. Fe2O3 is paramagnetic, reddish brown, and readily attacked by acids. Rust is often called iron (III) oxide, and to some extent, this label is useful, because rust shares several properties and has a similar composition.
To a chemist, rust is considered an ill-defined material, described as hydrated ferric oxide.
Yellow Oxide

Thermolite is a reflective top coating processed from high quality asphalt fortified with pure prismatic aluminum flakes and diluted with mineral sprit. It is designed to protect and preserve a roof by reducing its surface temperatures, beautifies old and new roofs as well as hundreds of other surfaces that require protection from heat, solar radiation, rust and corrosion . When Thermolite is applied, aluminum flakes develop a continued shield which reflects up to 80% of harmful sun rays, thus reducing the surface temperature of the building by as much as 10ºC. One kg of Thermolite covers about 80-100 ft² of concrete surface as well as 100-130ft² on metal surface. Thermolite makes the building temperature tolerable even without air conditioning & provides maximum thermal heat.

Lithopone (Zinc Oxide)
Lithopone is a white pigment composed of a mixture of barium sulfate (68 – 70 %) and zinc sulfide (28 – 30%) with trace amounts of zinc oxide. It is produced by precipitation through filtering, heating and quenching works. Lithopone has mostly been replaced by titanium dioxide which is more durable, but it is much cheaper. It is used as a base for lake pigment and used as a inert pigment for paint, ink and cosmetics as well as in a large range of applications in plastic industry. It is used as a filler in paper, leather, and linoleum.
Red Lead Tetroxide
Lead tetroxide, also called minium, red lead or triplumbic tetroxide, is a bright red or orange crystalline or amorphous pigment. Chemically, red lead is lead tetroxide, Pb3O4, or 2PbO·PbO2.
This compound’s Latin name minium originates from the Minius River in northwest Spain where it was first mined. Natural minium is uncommon, forming only in extreme oxidizing conditions of lead ore bodies. The best specimens known come from Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, where they formed as the result of a mine fire.
Lead tetroxide is used in the manufacture of batteries, lead glass and rust-proof primer paints.
